SHORT BACKROUND:
Bitiala is a Maguindanaon word for conversation. It was develop when Al Qalam Institute localize the peace lens or Pakighinabi of Ateneo de Davao University in Maguindanao context. Bitiala is a platform for conversation where different issues concerning their social, political, economic and religious affairs have been invited for a proper venue to articulately discuss by the concerned sectors and stakeholders for them to come up recommendations and policy to address certain challenges. Bitiala also increase the consciousness of the people in understanding issues affecting there life.
The Salaam Movement aims to work for peace in Mindanao through young adults’ initiatives, mostly from young Muslims, but not exclusively Muslim. It aims to eradicate prejudices against Muslims, through education and guided information; inspire trust, confidence and respect for Muslims; engage in beneficial work like outreach programs to communities in Mindanao. Its activities are invitations for everyone to work and advocate for peace.
