The Al Qalam Institute will be conducting a Pakighinabi Series with the theme “Islam and The Amman Message (The Common Word): Its Significance in Interfaith and Intra-faith Dialogues.”

The Amman Message is a document of historical importance produced in 2006 by unanimous and universal consensus (ijma’) among both political and acknowledged religious leadership of the worldwide Islamic community (Ummah). It represents an agreement, without parallel for fourteen centuries, upon the most fundamental matters defining Islamic faith. It thus constitutes a definitive demarcation of true Islam in all its forms, and an authoritative identification – if not a definition – of orthodoxy in Islam.

In this context, there is a need to advance the constructive discourse within Ateneo and its partners an understanding and acceptance of our diversities and our commonalities. The Pakighinabi aims to expand and strengthen the constituency for peace advocates and to provide space of dialogues in arriving at informed opinions and decisions on Bangsamoro peace process and beyond.
