The project aims to draw specific historical and cultural issues distinct within the Muslim communities in Mindanao. This project is designed to strengthen, through the Government of Australia represented by its Embasy in the Philippines and Al Qalam Institute of Atene de Davao University, the partnership of Indigenous groups, local Muslim, Christian stakeholders towards the pursuit of sustainable peace and development in the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao.
Recognizing the significant impact of intra – faith and interfaith dialogue, the Al Qalam Institute, with the generous support of the Government of Australia, intends to upscale and institutionalize local peace volunteers at the municipal, city, provincial and regional level, specifically targeting the most vulnerable barangays. The empowerment of local institutions through confidence building and capability building or training of local peace volunteers shall be emphasized. The volunteers will eventually become effective partners of government agencies and civil society organizations to implement development initiatives and address or attempt to augment the human security needs in their localities.
