The three-day trainers’ training aimed to foster among participants a better understanding of their common history, values and principles, to harmonize their efforts in working for peace in Mindanao. Through intrafaith and interfaith dialogue, program aimed to draw out distinct cultural and historical issues within Muslim communities in Muslim Mindanao, as well as strengthen the partnership of indigenous groups, local Muslim and Christian stakeholders in their pursuit of sustainable peace and development.
In addition, the training aimed to establish a network which facilitates a wider organization of women and youth, each having their particular niche in community development.
Furthermore, the program aimed to enhance participants’ skills in planning, community organization, and networking, particularly in establishing, maintaining and optimizing linkages with local and international nongovernment organizations, peoples’ organizations, universities and civil society groups.
At its core, the training aimed to foster greater intrafaith and interfaith dialogue as a means to establish open communication channels among Mindanao stakeholders, promoting a culture of sensitivity and mutual respect, as well as producing a new generation of young leaders with a clear vision for Mindanao.
The trainer’s training had five (5) specific objectives:
The camp strove for relative diversity. Of the respondents, 30 were identified as Islam, 5 were identified as Catholic, 1 as Protestant. 28 were identified as male, while 9 were identified as female.
